Krabi, Thailand – 10 Reasons Why You Should Choose Krabi as your first go to destination in Thailand.

Sharing is caring!

Krabi is my favorite city in Thailand. Out of all the other cities in Thailand like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi happens to be one of the most epic places you are ever going to visit.

Most of the people in India, prefer to go to Bangkok and Pattaya when they think of a trip to Thailand. They never explore other parts of Thailand, I have many friends who don’t even know about any other cities other than these two.

Today, I am going to give 10 reasons, why you should choose Krabi as your first go to destination in Thailand.

Let’s Begin.

1) Krabi is cheaper than other cities.

As a budget traveler, I always look for places which are cheaper and at the same time amazing and beautiful. Talking about Thailand, it is a very budget friendly country and most of the travelers love it here. But, comparing all those places Krabi comes into one of the top cheap cities in Thailand.

The prices are little less as compared to all other neighboring cities. The street food prices, the accommodation, are very cheap. You can get a bed in a dorm for THB200 – THB300 in a very good party hostel. Party hostels are expensive in Bangkok and their price is all the way up to THB400 – THB700.

I stayed in The Balcony Party Hostel 18+, which was really amazing and had the best party vibe to it. They provide you with free barbeque and free shot in the evening for the number of days you stay here. They have a party every night till 2 – 3 a.m. I booked this hostel for just THB220 per night.

Note – This hostel is now closed for renovation for some time. I’ll update you when it reopens.

Similar hostel to this is the Slumber Party Hostel. This also has an amazing vibe to it. You should check it out.

If you get a flight at a good rate to Krabi then book it right away and go to Krabi. Chances are you will get a flight to Phuket and from Phuket, you can catch a bus for Krabi for just THB120. Don’t use other minivans or taxis they will charge you a lot.

2) You will love the island life.

Just imagine waking up in the morning and going to the balcony and seeing this amazing view before you. What would your reaction be?

I know you might be thinking that the beachside hotels are expensive and for a view like this you have to pay a lot. Guess what, this is the view from my hostel. Isn’t it great? Trust me, you can get this view by paying a very little amount.

If you live in Mumbai, you know that you cannot stay late at night on any beaches. Well, you can but after some time the police come and tell you to go from there.

If you have had any such experience then Krabi is the place you will surely love. You can go to the beach at 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. and sit down and just enjoy the calmness. I really loved Krabi because of this reason. Because not every day you get to sit so peacefully at a beach at that hour of the night without any interruption.

Yes, there are Thailand police officers around the beach but they don’t say a word to you. They are just there if something goes wrong.

Right opposite the beach you will find those 24 hours convenience store. My favorite was 7/11. Those are heaven for budget travelers. You can get everything you want at any time.

3) Ao Nang Beach – One of the most peaceful beaches.

Krabi, Thailand

Ao Nang beach is the main beach around Krabi. This is one of the most peaceful beaches I ever visited. It is kind of modern yet vintage type beach with the mountains on one end and all the other hotels and stores on the other end.

This is the go-to beach if you are coming to Krabi. You can witness some very beautiful sunrise or sunsets from this beach. The 6 days I stayed there I never witnessed the sunrise until the last day. That was also I had to check out early so I got to see it. The party life lasts very long and it doesn’t allow you to get up early in the morning.

4) The View from Railay Viewpoint.

Another one of my favorite spots in Krabi. The view from this point is mind-blowing. You will love the view.

To get to this view, you have to do some climbing. Don’t try to do it during the rainy season. It becomes very slippery and chances are you can fall down if not careful.

There are few big ropes tied all along the way to help you climb all to the top.

To get to this place you have to first catch a boat to the Railay beach which costs you around THB100 for one side. You can get a return ticket from the main counter at the end of the beach.

The viewpoint has no entry fees so you don’t have to worry about any of that.

5) Activities.

Krabi is a place which will never let you get bored. There are various activities you can do while in India.

The most famous activities you can do here are

a) Snorkeling

b) Kayaking.

c) Rock Climbing.

d) Visiting an Elephant Sanctuary. (Don’t support any activities including riding them)

6) The Nightlife.

This is a thing which is not only restricted up to Krabi but all over Thailand.

You are most likely to experience amazing nightlife all over Thailand.

7) Phra Nang Beach.

This is of the gems of Krabi. It is on the opposite side of the Railay beach. After reaching Railay beach you have to walk down to this beach or cave.

There is a cave is situated on the east side of the Railay beach. I don’t know in which grade but there were some concepts about stalactites and stalagmites. These are basically rock formations which happen naturally due to the rainwater dripping from the top. These limestone formations are mostly seen in pairs.

Phra Nang beach is famous for these stalactites and stalagmites.

The cave has an ancient history. The locals believe that it belongs to some princess of the sea. There is a large offering of phallic shaped objects giving as offerings in this cave. They believe that this helps them with fertility.

People believe what they believe and we should respect them whenever visiting such places. Doesn’t matter if we believe in it or not at least passing any inappropriate comments in front of them should be avoided.

8) The Island Tours.

The highlight of Krabi is the island tours.

They have various options available.

The 4 – Island Tour.

The 7 – Island Tour.

Half Day Tour.

Full Day Tour.

Phi Phi Island Tour.

Whichever package you choose you will have a great time during these tours. The package usually includes Transportation and lunch during the tour.

They will take you around all these islands and you can visit them as per your liking.

Other things to be noted that there is a national park fee of THB400 if you plan to do these tours. The national park fees are not included in the price so make sure you have enough cash for it.

9) Less Crowded.

Thailand has become one of the most popular destinations in recent years. Many tourists come to Thailand every year and as a result, this becomes a very crowded country during some seasons. Due to the many festivals and the visa-free exemption by the Thai Government, the number of people has drastically increased during the past 7 months.

The majority of tourist make their way to Bangkok side so those areas are the most crowded any time of the year.

Krabi, on the other hand, is not that popular and people don’t choose Krabi as their first choice. This is the reason this place remains less crowded most of the time.

You will feel as if you have come to your village for a break from your hectic schedule. The place is very quiet and peaceful all the time.

10) Magical Sunsets.

I love sunsets and I love watching them on the beaches. I have seen many sunsets during the past few years but this certainly is one of the best.

When you click a picture, you don’t need to put on any filter on top of it. The raw photos just look so good and pleasant.

These are the 10 reasons why Krabi is worth a visit during your Thailand trip.

That’s it for today.

See you in y next blog.
