After landing in Krabi, most people travel to Ao Nang. Even the ones who are on their way Phi Phi Islands also have to travel via Ao Nang. This article is going to be about all the ways you can travel from Krabi airport to Ao Nang. This list includes everything from the cheapest to the most expensive and convenient ways.

There are tons of accommodations near Ao Nang beach from budget hostels to luxury hotels. I would recommend you to book your stay near Ao Nang beach as it is the most convenient place in Ao Nang. Another good thing about booking your stay here is that you will find many transport options for your return journey to Krabi Airport.

There are 4 ways to travel from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang.

  1. Songthaew
  2. Airport Bus
  3. Taxi/Minivan/Metered Taxi
  4. Airport Transfers (Pre-booked)

Songthaew from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang.

This is the cheapest way you can travel from airport to the beach. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you won’t find them right outside the airport. Also, there is no direct songthaew to Ao Nang, you will have to take one songthaew to Krabi town and another one to Ao Nang.

For the songthaew you will have to walk around 500 to 600m towards highway no 4. When you reach the highway, you have to wave down the songthaew to Krabi Town.

After going to Krabi Town you can catch another songthaew to Ao Nang. They will drop you at your hotel in Ao Nang area. The journey will take you around 1 hour 30 minutes to reach Ao Nang. This can be less or more depending on the waiting time to catch another songthaew.

Don’t worry though, these songthaew have a very good frequency and you won’t have to wait more than 15 minutes after reaching Krabi Town.

Cost – THB 70 (Rs.170)

Airport Bus from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang.

This is an official bus service from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang. It is a very convenient way as the bus will be around the airport premises and you won’t have to walk till the highway as like the songthaews.

Many travelers prefer to chose this way as it takes directly to Ao Nang. People traveling with lot of luggage avoid changing their transportation to reach their destination.

There is no fixed timing for this bus. It runs every hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. when the bus gets full. Another good thing about this bus is that it won’t drop you at the bus station, but will take you directly to your hotel.

The driver will ask you about the area where your hotel is. This is the reason why there is no specific route that this bus follows. It all depends on the passengers and where they are going.

You can expect to reach Ao Nang in about an hour or so. This time can vary as the bus also goes through Krabi Town.

The tickets for this bus are available at the ticket counters in the arrival hall. You can find many counters which may be selling the tickets for the same bus, so don’t get confused.

Taxi/Minivan/Metered Taxi From Krabi Airport to Ao Nang.

This is the fastest way you can reach Ao Nang. I always recommend this option for those who are in a group.

The good thing about these taxis is that they have a fixed rate. So, you don’t have to bargain after getting off a tiring flight. Just pay the money and you are good to go.

The taxi counters are inside the airport and you can easily find them whenever you arrive at the airport. After buying the ticket you will be taken outside to your taxi driver. This taxi will drop you directly at your hotel in Ao Nang.

Cost – THB 600 (Rs.1440)

These are similar to the taxi, the only difference is that these are 8-seater. If you are traveling with your family then this might be a good option for you. The booking process is similar to that of the taxi.

You can also share this taxi with other fellow travelers you meet at the airport. This way you both can save some money on your ride.

Cost – THB 1050 (Rs.2520)

Metered Taxi

These taxis are parked outside the airport and they are also a little cheaper from the prepaid airport taxis. There is not fixed place or time where these taxis will be available.

You might have to search for them as you get outside the airport.

Cost – THB 500 (Rs.1200)

Airport Transfers (Pre-Booked).

You can also pre-book airport transfers before your arrival in Krabi. Booking this earlier may get you some discounts. This is great if you don’t want to search for transportation after you arrive at the airport.

The price is less than the airport taxi service and almost similar to the metered taxi.

You can check the prices here and pre book one for yourself.
